Locust Grove High School junior running back Javion Wright believes the work he put in during the offseason has positioned him for a breakout season in 2026.
Wright, a Class of 2028 prospect, is listed as a running back and outside linebacker for the Wildcats and wears No. 8. But entering his junior campaign, Wright is focused on making his biggest impact with the football in his hands.
After spending the offseason training and preparing his body for the grind of a varsity season, Wright believes he is ready to take another step.
“I’ve been training hard all offseason and working on getting stronger, faster and becoming a better running back,” Wright said. “I feel like this can be a breakout season for me. I just have to keep working and take advantage of every opportunity I get.”
For Wright, having a breakout year isn’t simply about individual statistics. He wants his production to translate into victories for Locust Grove and help the Wildcats establish themselves as a team capable of competing every Friday night.
“My expectations are high for us,” Wright said. “I want us to win games, compete for the region and make the playoffs. We have to come together as a team and believe in each other.”
Wright’s versatility gives Locust Grove another weapon on both sides of the football. His recruiting profile lists running back as his primary position and outside linebacker as his secondary position.
At running back, Wright wants to bring a combination of toughness, speed and vision while becoming someone the Wildcats can depend on when they need a big play.
The junior also understands that producing on Friday nights begins with preparation throughout the week.
“I want to be somebody my teammates and coaches can count on,” Wright said. “Everything I did this offseason was about getting better and being ready for this season.”
Now the offseason work is behind him.
Wright is ready to show that his junior season can be the breakout year he has been working toward.
